Alton Brown is an American television personality, food show presenter, author, and filmmaker best known for creating and hosting the Peabody Award-winning Food Network show “Good Eats”. Brown revolutionized food television by blending cooking instruction with science, history, and humour. He also served as the host and main commentator for popular series like Iron Chef America and Cutthroat Kitchen.

Before his culinary career, he studied film and worked as a cinematographer and director. After feeling dissatisfied with the quality of existing cooking shows, he enrolled in the New England Culinary Institute to pursue his vision of creating some exciting and entertaining television. In addition to his TV career, he is a best-selling author of several cookbooks and continues to perform high-energy, multimedia live shows.

Alton Brown’s Home Hi-Fi System Components

In 2019, Alton and his wife Elizabeth Ingram were featured in an article in Atlanta magazine that showcased their beautiful home. Readers could see parts of their Hi-Fi system in some of the photos.

The system included a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum III integrated amplifier, an all-tube integrated amplifier known for its high-quality sound performance. It is a potent 100 watts per channel amplifier, and features a high-quality headphone amp, and a selectable triode/ultralinear switch, making it highly versatile for audiophiles.

Next to the amplifier is a turntable that may be a Linn Sondek LP12, a belt drive turntable with a fantastic reputation for sound quality. The LP12 was inducted into the Hi-Fi Hall of Fame in 2024. Click here to see our profile of this outstanding player.

The speakers are most likely Tannoy Eatons, part of Tannoy’s Legacy Series, with each speaker employing a 10″ woofer with a concentric tweeter. Based on Tannoy’s 1970s-era “High Power Dual” design, and equipped with adjustable front-mounted controls, it delivers legendary, transparent, and dynamic sound, and was handmade in the United Kingdom.
